The San Tan Scramble is the fifth race in the Desert Runner Trail Series.  The Desert Runner Trail Series has two points divisions: Trail and Ultra. The 25km race at Cave Creek will score points in the "Trail Series" while the 50km race will score points in the "Ultra Series". The male & female winners of the 25km race will earn a free entry into the Half-Marathon DRT Series Trail Championship in March at Mesquite Canyon. The male & female winners of the 50km race will earn a free entry into the 50 Kilometer DRT Series Ultra Championship in March at Mesquite Canyon.
