Description

Welcome to the Seventh Annual American River Parkway Half-Marathon, the world's only Half-Marathon with two separate courses - one for Runners and one for Walkers!

Speaking of courses, we are pleased to announce NEW ROUTES FOR THIS YEAR'S RACE. See below for details!

The Courses

This race has two separate half marathon courses. One for runners and run/walkers and one just for walkers. Both courses are USATF certified and are out-and-back loops along the scenic American River Parkway. Both start and finish at William Pond park.

THE RUNNERS' HALF MARATHON COURSE is for runners and run/walkers and features a fast, flat paved course that's great for a PR. The new route this year will travel over the "Little Golden Gate" suspension foot bridge and proceed through the "Lost Trails" section of Parkway. The balance of the course loops downstream along American River Parkway flowing through forests of Old Growth Oak trees, native riparian landscape and the beautiful Avenue of the Poppies.  This course also has no motor traffic on the course. There are plenty of aid stations and entertainment along the course.

THE WALKERS' HALF MARATHON COURSE is for walkers only (no running at any time) and features a generous time-limit course suitable for the most leisurely of paces!  The Walkers' course winds upstream on the parkway trail along the most pristine portion of the American River Parkway. You'll see an abundance of wildlife and flora and walk though the famed Enchanted Forest. The route this year will cross the Sunrise Footbridge and proceed through the Sacramento Bar Park before turning around. No motor traffic anywhere on the course! As usual, there are water stations every mile, plenty of portable facilities, and no car-traffic to worry about!

THE 5K TRAIL FOOTRACE course has been updated to include a trail section that travels through a very beautiful section of the Parkway. The 5K Course is open to walkers and runners and everything in between.
