Description
This race marks the end of the 2013 Bellingham Trail Running Series! We will have a great post race party complete with a live band, award ceremony, tasty food, and local beer. We have chosen a popular and challenging course for the final race. There will be a lot of single track trails (just one dirt road section that climbs up Cleater Road in the 30k for 3 miles) with lake, ocean, and mountain views. Both races will climb Chuckanut Mountain from the start at Larrabee State Park.
30K: The 30k is a Bellingham classic, also known as the "Middle 18" for those runners who are familiar with the Chuckanut 50k. It has a little of everything and will test runners skill on narrow and technical single track trails, long climbs and descents, a shorter steep climb, with some beautiful views from the Chuckanut Ridge, Fragrance Lake, and Lost Lake Trail. Course has about 5,000 feet of elevation gain. Scroll down for a Garmin map.
12K: The 12k will challenge runners to a good climb up Fragrance Lake Trail and onto what we fondly call "Chinscraper" (Black Diamond) for the last 3/4 of a mile of the climb: a steep relentless climb, rewarding runners with a view from the top of Chuckanut Mountain at Cyrus Overlook. The 12k will then descend for the last half of the race, a pure up and down course! The 12k has about 1,600 feet of elevation gain.
