This is part of the Sky to Summit 50k on November 9th. So a good chance to see part of the course.
You will run 4 miles on the Bartram Trail. This is untouched single track where you travel over 14 bridges with small waterfalls and creeks. Then you summit Rabun Bald, the 2nd highest point in Georgia. There is a fire tower with a 360 degree view, hands down THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VIEW in Georgia! You then take the Rabun Bald trail which DESCENDS a fun 2,200 ft in 2.8 miles. You will then turn left onto Hale Ridge Rd where you run 2 miles or so of gradual up hill until you hit one of the Gems of this course, The Holcomb Creek Trail. a .9 mile trail with 1 x 120 ft water fall and 2 x 80 ft + water falls. This will then head back Hale Ridge Rd where you will take a right and head 2 miles back to the finish. NOTE THE LOOP IS ABOUT 11.25 miles. We may or may not include an extra 2 miles on FS road to make it exactly a half marathon. regardless the loop has epic beauty. With over 8 miles of single track, a 360 degree view, a bunch of water falls and a limit of 50 runners, makes this a unique race that you MUST run.
Oh and there is about 6,000 ft of elevation change. Note : We are running the EASY way by going down the Rabun Bald Trail.
If you have never run on or in Rabun County, Rabun Bald, Bartram Trail or any of these trails then you are REALLY missing out!
NO REFUNDS, Transfers, deferments... NO EXCEPTIONS!
As always there will be a $100 Cash prize to whomever brings in the most trash back to the finish line. YOUR OWN TRASH DOES NOT COUNT!
Cutoff time is 5:30 hours
Here is the garmin data. NOTE THAT THIS IS THE OPPOSITE WAY THAT WE ARE RUNNING!
