Welcome runners and paddlers!
Welcome to the 3rd annual Tapteal Greenway 50K! You have the choice of either running or paddling this 50K event.
Both the running and paddling events are approximately 29+ miles long each. The foot race parallels the Yakima river and is run on the Tapteal Greenway trail while the paddle race is ON the Yakima river (the "Tapteal water trail").
Both events start in Benton City at the boat launch and the finish is at Bateman Island in Richland. Sections of the Tapteal trail run are on dirt and have beautiful views of the river, while others portions are on pavement.
The paddle event runs downstream on the beautiful Yakima river itself. Paddlers are required to portage around the Horn Rapids dam. A volunteer will be on the bank instructing you where to exit the water.
There will be aid stations with tasty snacks and water & electrolyte drink to help you on your journey. Every runner & paddler will be responsible for arranging her/his own ride back to their car at the start. Why not drop a car at the finish and carpool with someone to the start to make it easier?
More detailed maps and aid station information will be posted soon!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Tapteal Greenway. You can learn more about them at https://tapteal.org/
