Roxy Ann Peak (Prescott Park)
Medford, Oregon
24-Hour and 12-Hour runs start at 8:00am. 6-Hour and 3-Hour runs start at 11:00am.
What is the race schedule?
Packet pickup will be Friday, June 2, 4-6pm at TBD location.
24-Hour run: 8am Saturday until 8am Sunday
12-Hour run: 8am - 8pm
6-Hour run: 11am - 5pm
3-Hour run: 11am - 2pm
What is the course?
The route consists of a 2.6 mile loop that includes ~240' of gain and loss. From the upper Prescott Park parking area, the course follows the loop road that circumnavigates Roxy Ann Peak (an ancient volcano). The first .8 miles of the loop is gently undulating paved road. As it changes to gravel you climb more quickly before descending more gradually to the start. Along the way you will experience a 360-degree panorama of the Rogue Valley and surrounding mountains. Mt. Ashland, Mt. Shasta, Mt. McLoughlin, the Three Sisters, Mt. Thielsen, and the Table Rocks can all be seen from different places on the mountain. After 3 hours you change direction, and change back every 3 hours. A sample of the course can be viewed at https://www.strava.com/routes/2925589794225488400
What is the swag?
As in "stuff we all get". Everyone who completes at least 1 lap will receive a glass and a medal. At packet pickup runners will receive a bag of goodies that includes useful swag and one wearable item. Shirts and other items are available as add-ons.
Top 3 males and top 3 females in each race will receive awards. Buckles for 100+ miles!
Aid Stations & Personal Tents
There is one aid station, located near the start/finish area. During the day it will offer usual ultra foods. At night it will also offer hot soups/meals and hot drinks. Hammer Heed will be available.
This year runner spots are free, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
What else should I know?
*It gets dark at night and there are no lights in the woods. Please bring a headlamp for 12 and 24 hour runs.
*It's October in southern Oregon, so expect hot, wet, snow, rain, wind, and sun. Seriously though- be prepared for rain and cool night temps as well as sun and hot day temps.
*Switch directions after you finish your first lap after the switch time (ie. don't change directions mid-lap)
*Winners are calculated by the number of laps started within the time , that are completed.
*As long as you complete 1 lap, you will not receive a DNF.
*Runners must check-out with race officials if they decide to drop early.
*There are restrooms at the start/finish area.
