Manaslu Trail Race

Tibet border region

Kathmandu, Nepal Manaslu 7-Day Stage Race

Registration closes: Sun, Oct 20 @ 11:59 PM NPT

Join the race around Manaslu 26,781' in Nepal

The Manaslu Trail Race is a challenging multi-stage trail race passing through some of Nepal’s most beautiful Himalayan landscapes in a part-circumnavigation of Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest mountain.

2023: 4th to 16th of November
2024: 9th to 21st of November

You’ll ‘run’ a total of ~140 km over 7 race days and hike ~40 km over two days.

You’ll cross a 5,160m pass, sleep at a monastery, (optionally) peer over the border into wild Tibet, run above a glacier on the trail to Manaslu Base Camp and enjoy many awesome trails in between.

You run with a light pack and all of your equipment is carried from stage start to stage finish.

Why this race?

*A SUPPORTED RACE*
You run with a light pack, everything else is carried for you. You sleep in 'tea-houses' on comfortable mattresses. We feed you big, home-cooked, meals and you just bring a few favorite energy snacks.

*FRIENDLY*
Up to 40-50 like-minded starters forming a friendly group. We invite young Nepali running talents to develop their running and interpersonal skills.

*DIVERSE ENVIRONMENT*
We run northwards towards Tibet, behind the stunning 8000 m Manaslu Massif, running at altitudes between 800 m and 3800 m, hiking up to 5160m!

*SUPPORTING LOCAL RUNNERS*
We invite around six young and upcoming local trail running talents to race and experience a stage race and travel to a new part of their country.

Who is it for?

If you can complete a trail marathon, enjoy mountain hiking, relish simple living conditions, are curious about other cultures, and you are not a horror around other people, then this would be a fit for you.

Stages are short (< 30km, 20 miles) due to the altitude, but far from easy. This is balanced with a lot of good food cooked fresh by our team, and plenty of time to rest and relax in stunning locations.

We've had everyone from the world's best trail runners, including a world champion, right up to those completing one more race before they retire at 77.

See our homepage for testimonials like this:

“Trail adventure of a lifetime….due to combination of jaw dropping scenery (I will never forget my first sight of Manaslu), fantastic trails, beautiful villages, humble people (highlight being invited into their home), excellent trip organisation and wonderful team camaraderie! …. a hugely rewarding challenge.”
