What is this?
Run Ragged got cancelled – and there is no way we could possibly pull off a successful last person standing event in 2020. So.. we’re doing the next best thing! Welcome to 6/12 hours of FUN at Ragged!
Dates and Location
Dates and Location
August 1st through the 31st, 2020 – Pick the day you want to do it, and hit the trail.
You must run when the park is open to the public – which is dawn to dusk. Even on the shortest daylight day in August, you still get 12 hours of sunlight – don’t be a jerk and run at night.
Trailhead is located at or about 437 West Lane in Berlin, CT. You can park near the gates, and use your vehicle for your own personal aid station.
Course and Scoring
You have two options, the traditional Run Ragged 3.1(ish) mile loop (Blue / red, to Blue / Yellow, to Blue, to Blue Orange) – OR the outer 5.4ish mile loop (Blue / red, to Blue, back to Blue Red). You can run whichever direction you’d like. Switch it up between loops, do one big loop, then two shorter, clockwise, counterclockwise whatever you want as long as it’s in the allotted time. Only fully completed loops within the allotted time will count.
For each loop you complete, you must return past the large sign at the trailhead (in the pictures of the event). The sign will also be the official “start line” of the race.
The run will be scored on a point system. 1 point for the Run Ragged loop, and 2.1 points for the outer loop. The runner with the most points wins. BUT WHAT IS THERE IS A TIE? Easy, the runner who did it faster wins.
Also in the pictures is an outline of both loops put together in the state of the art MS Paint.
The course will not be marked, other than the blazes on the trees – proper navigation is on you.
Cost
$25, $20 if you are a member of the CT Trailmixers (a code will be emailed to you if you are). If you aren't, check us out here: https://my.cheddarup.com/c/2020-ct-trailmixers-membership-registration
Results and Awards
It wouldn’t be a race at Ragged without a finisher award from local superstar Ragged Cuts (www.raggedcuts.com)! Everyone gets a buff / neck gaiter / whatever you call them. Overall male and female in each race (6/12 hour) will receive additional recognition.
Runners will self-report their race results to the race directors - the process for that will be outlined in the pre-race e-mail. You will be asked to provide GPS proof of your run with a link to Strava, Garmin, Coros, Run Keeper (or whatever) - or a GPX file for verification.
Your race starts when your watch starts, and stops when your watch stops (so long as it is in the designated time).
COVID-19
Runners are expected to follow all state protocols and practice social distancing.
About the CT Trailmixers
Run Ragged is put on through the CT Trailmixers. The CT Trailmixers are a trail running club based in central Connecticut. Our members are passionate about sharing Connecticut’s many wonderful trails with friends and visitors. For more information on the CT Trailmixers, visit www.cttrailmixers.com. We are a non-profit, and all 100% volunteers - all club proceeds are reinvested in a variety of charitable causes like the CT Forest and Parks Association, and the CT Trailmixers Shoe Scholarship Program, which gives free shoes to kids in need who want to run cross-country or track in school.
CT Trailmixer Championship Belt
Ohhhhhhh yea! This event will count toward the CT Trailmixer Championship Belt - and will be scored in the same way as the Solstice Slam (https://www.cttrailmixers.com/solstice-slam) events that we will get from your uploads when we collect results. If you have no idea what any of this means, please just ignore it.
ONLY FULLY COMPLETED LOOPS WILL COUNT TOWARDS THE BELT!
