Race Day Details

There will be a 1 mile kid's trail race with excellent photo and viewing opportunities for parents on the course!

The 5K course will be the second half of the figure 8 (mostly green loop) of the NUTT Endurance Challenge loop. It is a beautiful loop with moderately technical trails. About 400 feet of elevation with gradual climbing in the first 1.5 miles.

The 10 mile course will begin on the gravel road and veer up onto a relatively new trail developed by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition. The course challenges you with 1100 feet of climbing over the first 5 miles. This trail offers rolling climbs, beautiful trails with both larger and smaller rocks.

Runners will reach the aid station at the Massanutten Overlook around mile 4.5. Beautiful views of Harrisonburg can be seen here. Runners will then hit the ridgeline, reach Kaylor's Knob, for a brief period of time before a fantastic barreling downhill (this section can be technical at times) for awhile before proceeding around fields and a small pond. The 10 mile course will finish with a slight downhill finish on gravel, over 90% of the course is single track trail.

8:15-8:55 Walk up registration for the Tenacious 10 miler and 5K
8:35-8:55 Packet pick up for pre-registered Moonlight Rendezvous participants
9:00 Tenacious 10 miler and 5K begins

Awards and Swag

Racers who register before the late registration deadline will receive a race t-shirt.

Top 3 males and females in the 5K and 10 miler will receive awards. Overall male and female for kids' race will receive awards. All kids' race participants will receive a finisher treat!

Our aid station and finish line will provide electrolyte beverages as well as basic aid station needs, and we strongly suggest that you carry a bottle or wear a vest for the 10 miler.

Series Information

This is the final race in the Slope Series, all taking place on the same slope/trail system!

1. The NUTT Endurance Challenge (1st Saturday in April)
2. The Moonlight Rendezvous (Late Summer)
3. Tenacious Ten Mile and 5K (Early Fall)

For 2021, Overall Long and Short Series Winners will be given free entry to 2022 races and a special commemorative item.

Directions to the Race

Parking for the race will be at the Western Slopes Parking Lot. 

You do not need a SVBC pass, as that is included in your entry fee.

Directions from 33 West:

Turn onto Indian Trail Road (620 N) for 1.7 miles
Turn right at Redeemer Christian School to stay on 620 N for .9 miles
Turn right onto Happy Valley Road for 1.4 miles
Slow down and look for SVBC signs to turn right into the slopes parking lot.
