Race Description
The Thunderbolt Creek 12k & 30k are very scenic out-and-back courses on the Thunderbolt Creek & Continental Divide Trail west of Boulder and Basin, Montana in the Helena-Deer Lodge National Forest. The trail is mostly non-technical although 30k runners will encounter lots of loose rocks on the climb to the old lookout on Thunderbolt Mountain with approximately 3,000 feet of climbing overall. If you love trail running, this is a must for your summer calendar!
Limited to 100 runners! Both distances start at 8:00 AM.

BONUS for SHATS series finishers
Runners who complete three of the four BQR summer trail races are eligible for additional awards! The four events, known collectively as the South Hills Annual Trail Series or "SHATS," are:
(1) Thunderbolt Creek 30k or 12k on July 13, 2024 (either distance)
(2) Little Blackfoot 20k or 10k on July 27, 2024 (either distance)
(3) Dark Knight 5k on August 24, 2024
(4) Ridge Rumble 12k on Sept 8, 2024
SHATS series prizes will be awarded following the Ridge Rumble. There is always an element of humor to the series awards... Join the fun!
