The Mountain of Hope Trail Challenge is back for 2023 !! This event was started in 2014 and was set up to provide funds for Sharing Hope Ministries, an organization that helps out in disaster relief areas. This race is run on private ground.. For all you who have never run this race please come prepared for a challenge. The event will be held at the Amish school house located along Beagle Rd.
Half marathon. $50 Start time 9:00 AM 3000 feet of elevation gain. The half marathon starts with a mile of gradual uphill on a gravel lane. It will then be run on old logging roads and single track trails that are very steep and rocky in some places. The first 6 miles are mostly up hill with over 2 thousand feet of elevation gain. You will then run about 3 miles along the top which will give you several scenic views of the farmlands of East Nittany Valley before winding back down to the finish line. There will be 2 aid stations, one at mile 4 and the 2nd at mile 8. There is a 5 hour cutoff at the second aid station which still gives you about 8 hours to do the whole course so this makes it very hiker friendly.
5K. $35.00 Start time 9:30 AM The 5k will run on some of the same trails as the half. It will have about 1 mile of uphill before circling back to the finish line.
There will be no refunds or transfers so please consider this before signing up. We will not be sending shirts to participants who do not attend the event. Race day registration will be available. A meal of BBQ pork sandwiches and sides will be provided for all participants. Food for family and friends of the runners will be free of charge although donations will be greatly appreciated. All proceeds will benefit Sharing Hope Ministries. (sharinghopeministries.com)
