The Race

This wonderful challenging race started in 2004 by Eric Grossman. In the beginning there was just the 50k which remains today as one of the hardest 50k's in this part of the country. It is a single track trail through the forest, which is divided into 3 parts. The Red/Orange Trail,(that is the 6 miler today)add the Blue, Yost, and Purple Heart (the 15 miler), add Siltstone and Scott's Gap and you have the 50k.
I love these trails and this race! The first 4 years of the race I ran it and it became my New Year's focus each year. It gave me a goal for early in the year and put me in great shape for any other races I wanted to run later. This was my A race and as the race director I am still in love with these hills. Once you run them you will fall in love too! Please come join us this year. For any information about the race go to llthplus, a blog by Ed Kirk, a dear friend and trail runner, https://llth50.blogspot.com. If you cannot find what you need to know feel free to call me 502-220-3440.

Training Runs

I will have 2 training runs in Jan 2025. On the first we will run the first 15 miles, on the second we will run the second half..I will post the dates as the time gets closer. These are a great chance to see the course and get in some solid training. Hope we see you there!

Do the Double LLTH/LBL

Lovin' the Hills and Land Between the Lakes (LBL) started the same year, 2004. They both have been wonderful, fun, challenging races over the years. Most of us that ran in those days ran both races. It was not only a tradition but a great way to start the year. With these two races under your belt you are ready to face anything the year may bring. As a runner I loved it. I found the combination made me a stronger runner. Steve Durbin, the best race director around, along with the help of his wife, Terri, put on LBL, it is a time to remember.

This year we are joining forces. It is easy to do. Just register for LBL, any distance. Then, at the finish line for LBL let them know you did LLTh and you will receive a special award for running both.
As a bonus, you will be in great running shape.

See you there!

After the Race

After the race we gather in the Horine Center. It is located at the start/finish area. Because it sometimes snows it is nice to be warm. There is a nice fireplace and comfortable chairs but the soup is the star of the aftershow. Hot homemade soup, and some for all, meat and vegan and whatever else. .The prizes are donated by Quest Outdoors . I love this store and am so pleased they are part of this race. Each person receives a wooden medal. There is always extra swag, like hoorags to the first 200 that sign up for the 50k or 15 miler. This is worth the sign up. The people and homemade soup are a great way to finish a run! I love to hear each adventure!
