Join Us In Mendocino!
Come join us off the Mendocino Coast in Mendocino Woodlands Park. As in the past, we're running a looped course through the stunning wilderness and across murmuring streams. For Ancient Redwood Running Festival alumni who didn't join in 2019, our new location's loop is 6.2 miles long, perfect for our 10k and half-marathon race, we well. Our Camp is just outside Mendocino, so families who aren't running have access to that lovely community and the coast. After your run, enjoy more incredible food and drink while meeting fun folks. We have many other surprise treats in store for this festive event. Learn more at MendoRunFest.com
Courses and Races
The race course consists of a 6.2-mile loop from the Big River valley, to the top valley's edge. The loop is mostly single track trail and has 875 feet of climb. You can choose from the two timed formats (6- and 12-hour) or the two distances, 10k and half-marathon. No matter the distance you'll be in for a treat. Learn more about the course at MendoRunFest.com
How the Camping Works
Mendocino Running Festival occupies an entire camp inside of Mendocino Woodlands Park. Here are the camping and visiting options:
Come for the Day: If you sign up to race, you can come and race, then stay as long as you like. Your race includes lunch and you are welcome to stay at the camp through the evening. If you bring family members and want to purchase their lunch, buy an extra meal ticket. If they want to come and horse around, that's great too! Fun is free.
Come And Camp In Style: There are 21 tent cabins with cots in each. Enough for 4 people. No tent required. You can bring friends who aren't running to stay with you in your tent cabin for no extra cost. Starting this year, food is not included in the cost of a tent cabin. Kids are free, though.
Come And Stay in a Camper, Car, Truck, or Tent: If you would like to come in your camper or car, there are options for this at checkout. Likewise, if you want to pitch your tent, there are places that we mark off for this purpose. Like everything else, you share in the Commons' facilities. You are welcome to bring non-runners. We ask that they purchase meal tickets. Read on for how much food a runner can expect.
Food (more below) If you have purchased a running registration, one meal and snacks is covered. Like the tent cabins, you are welcome to bring as many non-runners as you like. The more the merrier. We ask that non-runners purchase meal tickets.
For a better understanding of the camp, click here to see the scheme of where the tent cabins, the Scena Commons, and tent sites are.
Camp assignments will be published around Labor Day..
Send us an email if you have questions.
How the Food Works
Mendocino Running Festival is setup in a family camp format, with a very large kitchen and the eating area we refer to as The Commons. You can expect meals and snacks. For runners, we include one meal in your registration. So, if you're coming for the day, you're covered.
If you're coming to camp, consider buying a food pass. Here's what to expect. It starts with a potluck Friday night and we take it from there. We serve coffee, cereals, fruit, and yogurt in the mornings, and on race day, we serve lunch and dinner. Sunday morning, there's breakfast again.
You are also welcome to bring your own food and prepare it in the Commons. This can be perfect if you or your children have special dietary needs. No need to buy a food pass if you're fending for yourself.
If you are bringing friends who aren't running, or if you're staying the whole weekend, purchase a food pass. If you're bringing stuff to share, or plan to volunteer a lot, don't worry about it. Use your judgment. Ditto if you're just not a big eater. Kids are free.
If you're planning to come to eat all the meals and drink beer all evening, buy a pass. It doesn't take much to figure out where you land in all this. But if it does, by all means, email us.
Refund and Other Policies
We have a no-refund policy. Outside of 30 days, you can defer to a future year or another Scena race. It's easy to do and Ultrasignup handles it all. Within of 30-days, there are no deferrals. No exceptions. For refunds and other policies, including what happens if there's a natural disaster, visit the Policies section of our website.
