Course Info
COURSE - MARATHON / HALF
Description: The race starts and finishes at Sellers Park. Upon starting, you will run north and west following some flat crushed gravel/paved trail through some forest and marsh lands as you approach Sequalitchew Creek. At about Mile 2, you will enter the beautifully forested Sequalitchew Creek Canyon and gently descend about 300’ over the next 1.5 miles through the canyon and down to Puget Sound. Take a moment to listen to the sounds of the creek flowing through the gorge! After descending, you’ll go through a short tunnel and emerge onto the beachfront along the sound where you will make a short out and back on the beach. On a clear day, the Olympic Mountains will be towering across the sound! You will come back up the creek trail, but make a right turn to cross the creek shortly after coming through the tunnel. Here you are face with a short, but steep climb as you come out of the canyon and up to higher ground (don’t worry, this section is only 0.2 miles long!), emerging out of the canyon at about 4 miles into the run. For the next 5 miles you’ll traverse some rolling terrain and well groomed trails as you do a lollipop loop up on the bluffs about 300’ above Puget Sound. You’ll be greeted to some gorgeous views of the sound below, and get to run through some wonderful forested trails in this section. After completing the lollipop, you’ll descend back into the canyon going down the short steep section, and come back up the way you came from miles 0-3 to head back to the finish line area. You’ll complete one last short loop through some marshlands before you hit the finish line. The marathon will repeat this course 2x.
