Registration Update

Update 12/14/2023 Hey Folks, registration for 2024 will open on February 1, 2024.

Introduction

Welcome to the Harriman Trail Race page. 2024 will be the eighth year of this event and we hope you will join us.
The Harriman Trail Races have been expertly curated with the discerning trail runner in mind.
Every attempt has been made to provide the ultimate in artisanal trail racing for both the wise and sage runner as well as the newcomer to the trail racing scene.
Careful attention has been paid to the design of the event, the course, the distances, the aid station fare, the critical placement of wildlife for your viewing enjoyment, random gift giving, and the post race food and beverages.
We are also strictly limiting the number of runners so as to also provide that uncrowded, wilderness feeling (even though you can see the town of Island Park in the distance).
We believe we have truly developed what will be a sublime experience in your trail running career. One that you will remember for at least a week.
The Harriman 50K will be a part of the Idaho Ultra Trail Series sponsored in part by The Pulse Running & Fitness Store in Boise. Being a part of this series will add immeasurably to your trail running street cred.

Course

The courses for all three distances are in a word, beautiful. Wildlife may abound, beautiful forest and meadows, sweet buffed out, pine needle covered single track, stunning views of the Teton Mountains as well as the local valley.
The entire course is 25K in length, the 8.1 mile race will take a shortcut back to the finish, and the 50K is twice around the course.
Here is a link to the course from a runner that ran it last year: https://www.strava.com/activities/1141890407<

Aid Stations

Nothing has been spared in bringing you the finest in aid station fare. There is one aid station that you will access multiple times during your journey. The food selection is wide ranging. Including cookies, chips, a nice selection of sodas, water, sports drink, as well as other tasty treats. Aid station personnel will be at your beck and call during your stay. The 8.1 mile runners will visit this aid station one time, the 25K runners will visit twice, and the 50K runners will have the privilege of visiting four times.

Lodging

The dormitory will not be available this year for use by runners. You will need to arrange for your own accomodations.
Please note that there are no camping facilities inside the park. There are several forest service campgrounds in the area plus dispersed camping is available. Check the website for the Caribou-Targhee National Forest for details. Additionally, the town of Island Park has numerous rentals available. Reserve early.

Check In

You may appear beginning Friday at 3pm and lasting until about 8pm. We will resume check in at 5:30am Saturday morning. If the race does not fill prior to registration closing, then there will be race day registration available.

Race Festivities

We have reserved the “Boy’s House” for your post race dining and relaxation. This building overlooks the river and has a nice area for congratulating runners as they cross the finish line.
Once you have completed your beautiful journey, join your fellow travelers on the lawn overlooking the Henry’s Fork River for a meal of hamburgers or hot dogs with all of the accoutrements, soda, and a fine selection of inexpensive beer. Cheer on the runners as they finish, bring a fly rod and fish the river, or just hang out.

Rules/Advice

As well-mannered trail runners, it is expected that you will follow the standard protocols regarding trail racing. This will include not disposing of your trash on the ground, not cheating or cutting the course, being very polite to the aid station personnel, other runners, other visitors, and park personnel. If you get off course, you will need to go back to where you left the course and then resume your race. If you just elect to come back to the start, you will be credited with a DNF.

Course Marking

Course markings will consist of flour arrows raised from free-range wheat, directional signs mounted on sustainably raised, non-GMO fir or pine grade stakes, and ribbons made from environmentally friendly, organic, recycled plastic (I think).

Refunds and Rollovers

Here is the policy
I will refund your entry fee PROVIDED the race is full and there is someone on the wait list to take your spot.
This refund is available up to approximately 30 days prior to the race.
If the race is not full, then there is no refund. Within 30 days there is no refund available.
How do you get a refund? Just send me a note through the website contact page.
Rollovers
There are no rollovers for any Buffalo Run Adventures races.
The entry fee you pay is for this year’s race and covers this year’s supplies, fees, insurance, etc.
The best thing to do is to get a refund if the race fills.
Transfers
I DO NOT allow race entries to be sold or transferred to anyone. This is a liability issue.
If you are out running the race and get hurt and can’t communicate with us, I have no idea who you are, who to contact, etc.
Plus it has the potential to really screw up results.
The best thing to do is to get your refund if the race is full and have your friend just sign up for the race.
