Description

Pennypack Trail Fest cancelled
I regret to inform you, that we have decided to cancel the 2022 Pennypack Trail Fest. Organizing an event in the city of Philadelphia is very expensive and we need about 400 runners to just break even, and at this point we have only 80 runners registered for the race. I take partial blame for this, I could have advertised this race more aggressively, but I think part of the problem is, that this race never really had a steady home/date. We did it successfully in 2019, then Covid hit in 2020 and we could not hold it. In 2021 hurricane Ida hit the Philadelphia Parks hard and we could not hold the race either. So not holding the race 2 years in a row seemed to be a hurtle that we could not overcome.
In 14 years of RDing close to 100 events I never had to cancel an event due to lack of participation. Very humbling, but unfortunately this is the only option.
So within the next couple of days we will start processing refunds to all registered runners. All of you will receive a refund check for your entry fee plus the ultrasignup processing fees. If you have moved since you registered, please email me at stephanweiss@comcast.net, so I can send the refund check to your new address.
I apologize for the inconvenience. I hope this email gives you enough notice to change your plans and possibly sign up for a different race to put all that training to good use.
Thanks,
Stephan Weiss

Uberendurancesports proudly presents the Pennypack Trail Fest. A race catering to hikers, new trail runners and seasoned pros as well. Our 13.1 mile course is very hiker friendly. You have 7 hours to finish the 13.1 with aidstation/waterstops every 2-3 mile. Elevation of the course is very manageable, most of the trails are not very difficult. This race takes place in Pennypack Park, a wonderful green oasis within the city limits of Philadelphia, you will be surounded by the forests and meadows the entire time. This race is modeled after the Dirty German race, which takes place at the same park in May, but features a brand new course. Over 50% of the course will be new to runners who previously ran the Dirty German.

As usual, you can expect top notch organization and a well marked course. The best aidstations around will get you through the race, and Uberhans, America's toughest accordion player will be at the finish to entertain you. We also have great swag and 2 professional chefs, feeding you at the post race party. This is a great time of the year running this race. The air is typically brisk and the leaves are changing color. What are you waiting for, become a trail runner today.
