Crowders Mountain

This is more than a race. It’s a battle—against the mountain, against the clock, and most of all, against yourself.

You will run every trail, summit both peaks, and face the rugged beauty and brutal challenges Crowders Mountain throws at you. The lake views will reward you, but the journey will test every ounce of grit and heart you have.

Choose your fight:

100 Mile Ultra: 34 hours to push through pain and fatigue, to prove your limits are just the starting line.

100K Ultra: 25 hours to grind 62 miles of relentless terrain and find strength when your body begs to stop.

50 Miler has 25 Hours to sweat

Marathon: 10 hours to face the mountain’s fury and rise above it.

Half Marathon: NO TIME LIMIT

This race is for the fighters—the ones who understand that true victory is earned step by step, breath by breath, when the world tells you to quit.

Finish, and you don’t just get a medal and buckle—you earn a symbol of resilience, a testament to your will to overcome.

NEW 100 Miler Route

Course Details - 100 Miles

2025 Course Route!!!!

100 Miler - We will be starting at Crowders Ridge Start/Finish Line. Head Left up Tower Trail, and take a left on Rocktop Trail down to taking a right onto Crowders Trail. We will travel on Crowders Trail until it turns into Pinnacle Trail. Then Take a left turn onto Turnback Trail. Head down that Trail on your way to Wolf's Den Aid Station. After this Aid Station you will take a right turn onto Fern Trail and head back out on your way back to Turnback Trail. When you head back to Pinnacle Trail. You will continue Straight up Pinnacle Trail. Right before you head into the Summit of Pinnacle you will make a left turn onto Ridgeline Trail. Follow it for a long while till you reach the 161 Aid Station. Then another stretch towards Boulders Access Aid Station. This is your turnaround point to head back. At this point you are at 13.4 Miles into the Route. At this turnaround point you will head back to Ridgeline Trail and make a right turn. You will NOT be running to SC!!! From this point you will follow Ridgeline Trail passing 161 Aid Station for a Second time. Continue on till you reach Pinnacle Trail and from here you will make a right turn onto Pinnacle and follow it all the way to Turnback Trail. While running on Turnback Trail you will run back into Wolf's Den Aid Station for a Second time on this route. After Wolf's Den Aid Station you will make the right turn onto Fern Trail. Make a right turn onto Turnback Trail, and follow it until you reach Pinnacle Trail. Make a right turn onto Pinnacle and continue to follow the Trail until it turns back into Crowders Trail. Finally reaching from Crowders Trail you will make a left turn onto Rocktop Trail. Follow this trail until you reach Tower Trail and turn right. Follow it ALL the way down to a right turn that leads you into the Crowders Ridge Trails taking you back to the Start/Finishline.

You will do this Route a total of 3 Times. On the 4th time you will Run the route until you reach the 161 Aid Station and turn around to head back to Wolf's Den Aid Station Then to the Finish. The total distance for what you are covering is 101 Miles.

NEW 100K Route

Course Details - 100K

Course Details - Half Marathon

Half Marathon - We will be starting at Crowders Ridge Start/Finish Line. Head Left up Tower Trail, and take a left on Rocktop Trail down to taking a right onto Crowders Trail. We will travel on Crowders Trail until it turns into Pinnacle Trail. Then Take a left turn onto Turnback Trail. Head down that Trail on your way to Wolf's Den Aid Station. After this Aid Station you will take a right turn onto Fern Trail and head back out on your way back to Turnback Trail. When you head back to Pinnacle Trail. You will make a right turn onto Pinnacle Trail. It will turn back into Crowders Trail. After Crowders Trail you will turn left onto Rocktop Trail. Follow it till you reach Tower Trail. Take that right and head down Tower Trail. Then you will make another right turn onto Crowders Ridge Trails to the Finish.

Aid Stations

We will have 4 aid stations on course:

Crowders Ridge - Wolf Base - The 161 Aid Station - Boulders Access

Major Aid Station Food:
All aid stations will have basic food choices:
Pickles wrapped in Bacon, Cereal, Gummies, Salt Pretzels, Candy, Fruits
Hot Food during the race will include: Hot Bacon, Soup, Probably a surprise or two

Drink Choices:
Tailwind and Water
Soda - Mountain Dew, Coke, Ginger Ale

Gear / Pacers

Trekking Poles are completely ok to use. Pacers are fully allowed only for the 100K, and 100 miler after 50 miles.

Time Cutoffs

Half Marathon: None

Marathon: 10 hours ( 6 pm Saturday)

50 Miler: 25 Hours (9 am Sunday)
100K: 25 Hours (9 am Sunday)

100 Mile: 34 Hours (6pm Sunday)

"TRAIL SISTERS Approved Race"

Welcome to the Beast of the East 2023. in addition to our classic race distances (Half Marathon, Marathon, 50M, 100K & 100M) we have a 15 miler/25k-ish race. We are now a "TRAIL SISTERS Approved Race". This is great news and we hope to see more ladies out on the trail this year. This is a great race for those who don't have the time to spend all day at. the park because you have to finish your Christmas shopping!
